Banking exam FAQs

Which bank exam should I start with after graduation?

IBPS PO and IBPS Clerk are the widest entry points because one exam covers many public sector banks. If you want SBI specifically, prepare for SBI PO or SBI Clerk — the pattern is similar, so preparation overlaps heavily.

What is the difference between IBPS PO and SBI PO?

IBPS PO recruits Probationary Officers for multiple public sector banks through one exam, while SBI PO is only for State Bank of India. SBI PO is generally more competitive and its interview stage carries more weight.

What subjects are asked in bank exams?

Prelims typically test English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. Mains adds General/Banking Awareness and Computer Aptitude, and officer exams like RBI Grade B also test Economic and Social Issues.

Is there negative marking in bank exams?

Yes. Most bank exams, including IBPS and SBI prelims, deduct 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. Accuracy matters as much as speed.

Which bank exam is considered the easiest to crack?

Clerk-level exams such as IBPS Clerk and SBI Clerk, along with IBPS RRB, are usually considered more approachable because they have no interview stage. Officer exams like SBI PO and RBI Grade B have higher cut-offs and extra stages.

Can I prepare for bank exams online for free?
