FMGE Exam Overview

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is a screening test conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), India. It is mandatory for Indian citizens who have obtained an MBBS degree from a foreign medical institution and wish to practice medicine in India.

Purpose

FMGE assesses whether the candidate possesses the requisite knowledge, skills, and competencies expected of an MBBS graduate of an Indian medical institution. Clearing FMGE is compulsory to register with the Medical Council of India (now NMC) and practice in India.
